Becoming Sentient

New-born babies can’t really see very well or very far. Anything further away than about 15 cm is just a blur. Either that or she’s inherited her dad’s eyesight.

She does, however, seem to be fascinated by flitting shadows and light across the ceiling.

Fine Line Between Happy and Unhappy

A line she wanders over and back across. At this point she was still without a name, but she seemed happy without one.

Moments later the angst of being nobody overwhelms her. Her dawning conciousness demands to know ‘Who am I?’ and is met with only silence or, you know, unsuitable names.

Suckling Piglet
